Numbers from the recent Overwatch League Grand finals are in, and despite fewer matches being played, around 10.8 million viewers globally tuned in to see the London Spitfire defeat the Philadelphia Fusion 2-0 in a sold-out match in Brooklyn, New York.
The Grand Finals were streamed worldwide via Twitch as the primary digital viewing experience, as well as MLG (Major League Gaming). It was also streamed in China on ZhanQi TV, NetEase CC, and Panda TV; and broadcast to US audiences on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, and Disney XD, along with a highlights show on Monday, 30 July, on ABC. This was the first time that ESPN’s flagship network had broadcast live competitive gaming, and similar with ABC with the highlights program being the first of its kind on the network.
The Overwatch League returns to Blizzard Arena Los Angeles 26-27 August AEST/NZST.
