The Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) is looking to set a Guiness World Record for largest cosplay event on 5th May.
From 11am to 2pm in Melbourne’s Federation Square, AIE is attempting to oust Wisconsin, USA’s 425 person record for the ‘Largest crowd dressed as videogame characters.’
John DeMargheriti, CEO of AIE, Big World, and Micro Forté Studios, said: “The Australian Games Industry is behind some amazing, top selling and award winning apps created right here in Australia. It is important for us to be proud of the standard of work we are producing in our own country and this is one of many unconventional ideas that we’ve come up with to celebrate this!”
Laurie Costabile, Head of School at AIE Melbourne, added: “Attempting to break this World Record will be an enjoyable and entertaining experience for everyone involved. We are providing show bags for the first 1000 people that register with many other prizes and giveaways to hand out, that have been generously donated by our partners.”
Melbourne-based developer Raptus Games (Draw: The Showdown) will be providing AUD$1000 worth of games to help bring attendees along.
