Originally from Melbourne, Anathan ‘ana’ Pham and his team OG are now champions, after coming away with the win in DoTA 2 at The International.
OG started the tournament poorly, having to claw their way back from a 2-1 deficit, but beat Chinese team PSG.LGD 3-2 in the finals. The win at The International sees the team split a USD$11.2 million prize pool, which is one of the biggest prizes in esports.
Pham moved to Shanghai, China from Melbourne in 2016, after being picked up by OG at just 16-years-old. His continued success sees him ranked Top 50 internationally for DoTA 2. Pham’s appearance in finals is the second straight year that an Australian has competed at The International after Sydney’s Damien ‘kpii’ Chok and Chinese team Newbee took second place in 2017.
