A key initiative of Victoria’s $115m Creative State strategy, the Creators Fund allows independent creatives to explore new, innovative ideas, and develop their skills by providing them with one of the most elusive creative resources… time.
Grants of between $20,000 and $50,000 are available to arts, design, contemporary music, game development, screen or fashion sectors, to allow them to work intensively for a period of three to six months.
The Creators Fund aims to:
- Afford practitioners with an opportunity to take time away from their non-creative commitments to focus on their creative practice.
- Provide increased support for the initial stages of the creative development process, encouraging deep research and experimentation to assist creative practitioners in achieving excellence, innovation and advancement in their career.
- Enable the development of significant creative works.
- Engage with independent artists, creatives and collectives that reflect the diversity of the Victorian community, including individuals and collectives from across metro, outer suburban and regional Victoria.
Last year saw the fund assist a diverse collection of artists and practitioners in the development of their projects, a full list of last years recipients are available on the Creative Victoria website.
