It’s a good thing a niche sports title like Ashes Cricket has a captive fan base, because getting attention in November isn’t easy.
The game has been delayed from its July release window (designed to coincide with the 1st August leg of the Ashes) to a new November one.
The positive spin (no pun intended) on it is that it’ll now coincide with the return series when it hits Australia this November.
“The fact of the matter is, we took a long hard look at the game as it stands and decided it simple wasn’t good enough in its current state,” said Tim Woodley, Senior VP or Global Brand and Marketing for 505 Games. “It was simply not worthy of the Ashes name.”
While this may be a huge disappointment to cricket fans, it does show that 505’s dedication to making sure the new Ashes game is quality (after the last game’s poorly received effort) is solid, and that they’d rather wait and get it right than not.
