Announced last week, the Australian Game Developer Awards (AGDA) will return alongside GCAP (Games Connect Australia Pacific) at this years Melbourne International Games Week.
Managed by the GDAA (Game Developers Association of Australia), the awards are accepting nominations through to the 24th of August. The eligibility criteria are available on the full submissions page, basic criteria to note includes; The release of your game must fall between 1 September 2017 and 1 October 2018, and mustn’t have been nominated at a prior AGDA’s.
All winners will be selected by the Australian Game Developer Awards Committee based on nominations received during the nomination period. The Award Committee is comprised of external experts, with a strong knowledge of the game development industry.
following on from last years changes to the AGDA’s is that of the awards themselves, with the traditional categories returning such as Studio of the year, Rising Star, and Game of the year. However changes to the awards will see ‘Seven titles recognized as AGDA Award Winners, based on their own unique qualities.’ allowing judges evaluate entries as a whole, rather than specific parts of the game.
