Good Game’s Steven ‘Bajo’ O’Donnell as resigned from the ABC and will begin full time streaming on Twitch.
The former Good Game host and current host of Good Game: Spawn Point has announced he will be parting ways with the ABC and will begin full time as a Twitch streamer in December.
In a statement, Bajo said, “It’s been an incredible ride, but it’s time for me to say goodbye to the ABC, and my family of awesome people at Spawn Point.”
“It has been an absurdly difficult decision to leave the show and the ABC. Both terrifying and exciting. But it’s good to leave something while you’re still enjoying it, and go out with a smile. I’m so proud of the shows we’ve all made together, and excited to see how Spawn Point will evolve next year. It’s in such good hands.”
“Over the last decade I’ve had an unfair amount of fun working on once-in-a-lifetime projects at the ABC. Good Game, Spawn Point, GG:Pocket, GG:Well Played, Whovians, ABC ME Smackdowns, Trip for Biscuits, and more. I’ve been so lucky. None of these shows ever really felt like a job, it was all so fun. Fun fun fun, fun fun fun fun fun.”
“The ABC has been a huge part of building my entire career. It’s where I met many of my best friends and where I truly found a love for TV presenting, making content and collaborating with awesome teams. I’ll be handing in my ABC pass on the last show for 2017, but I hope to still venture into those government funded, grey hallways whenever I can, and once again boot up those really, really, really, really slow computers.”
“I’ve spent the last 11 years surrounded by the most talented and loveliest people you can find on the planet. The team at Good Game and Spawn Point are my colleagues, my friends, and have kindly worked tirelessly to make me look great for over a decade. I don’t have enough thanks for them, the crews, everyone who worked behind and in front of the scenes on the shows I’ve worked on at the ABC. Top tier, professional people. I’ve learned so much from all of them about TV, and life in general.”
“Looking ahead, I’m keen to go forth and learn new things and do new things! I love games, and writing and talking about games. Another factor in this decision is that this year I’ve discovered a personal joy in livestreaming on Twitch. The community has been so welcoming of me, and my nonsense streams. I’m blown away constantly by their support. Through them and livestreaming I’m learning so much (even how to cook!), and I’ve never laughed so hard. Thanks to my ‘Bajonians’ for changing my life in so many ways, and I look forward to spending even more time with you.”
“Until next time, may all your games be good ones, Bajo over and out.”
It is currently unknown if Good Game: Spawn Point will continue following Steven’s departure. Its sister show Good Game was cancelled in January following the departure of Stephanie ‘Hex’ Bendixsen and Nich ‘Nichboy’ Richardson, both of whom joined Channel 7 for the creation of the new show, screenPLAY.
