After much speculation and rumour, Ubisoft have officially announced that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is in development.
The official announcement was made on the Beyond Good & Evil Facebook page, which now also features the concept art that had been previously leaked on series creator Michel Ancel’s Instagram page.
The full announcement reads as follows.
“If you’ve been waiting for news about BG&E … Well here you go! We are delighted to confirm that Michel Ancel is currently working with the Ubisoft Montpellier studio on a new Beyond Good & Evil game.”
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was first announced in 2008, but Ubisoft hasn’t spoken about it much since then, leading many to question whether it was still in development or put on hold. At E3 2016, Ubisoft chief executive Yves Guillemot confirmed that Ancel was working on Beyond Good & Evil 2, though he could not say when we’d see its official reveal.
The studio developing the next Beyond Good and Evil, Ubisoft’s Montpellier studio, has has been involved in a number of the company’s previous games, most recently Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands. It also developed Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends titles.
