During PAX Australia 2018, 576 individuals ‘answered the champions’ call’, pledging to give blood – potentially saving over 1,700 lives.
The activation marks the largest number of registrations from a single event ever received by the Australian Red Cross Blood service.
Throughout the PAX Aus, Blood Service staff distributed refreshments at the Handheld Lounge and roamed the show floor with teams of Diablo cosplayers, encouraging people to make appointments to donate.
Sam Bartlett, Marketing Director at the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, said the result will help drive future donations and raise awareness for the vital work conducted by the Blood Service.
“We’re thrilled with the response and generosity of the Australian gaming community. This outstanding effort has helped us continue our life-giving work, and ensures blood products are available for all Australians when they need it. Thank you to those who raised their hand to be a hero to someone in need,” said Bartlett.
If you couldn’t make it to the show, you can still donate by contacting the Blood Service trough their website and selecting PAX2018 or calling 13 14 95.
