Brisbane Byte expands to become Byte Media Group

Brisbane Byte magazine has announced it’s restructuring and expansion to become Byte Media Group, home of three new offerings discussing Australian indie development, gaming events and venues for fans, and a monthly wrap up of Australian games industry news.

Through these new ventures, Brisbane Byte will provide a collated look at the Australian games industry, the three sites called; Indie Games AustraliaWhere Gamers Go, and the new Byte Magazine will all sit side by side, supporting each other as Byte Media Group owner Scott Beeby continues to grow the website.

  • Indie Games Australia – A database of Australian made indie games, past and present.
  • Where Gamers Go – A growing calendar of gaming events, arcades, pinball halls, and anything else with a destination.
  • Byte Magazine – A monthly check-in with the games industry, including content from the previous two sources.

We spoke with Scott last year about his work at Brisbane Byte, and his goal of creating a one-stop shop for local industry and consumers within Brisbane, but with the growth of the site the company has taken on a bigger challenge.

“The goal is to help unify the Australian games industry. Games, developers, arcades and all. There is plenty said about AAA titles and the big companies as far as gaming news, but way less gets mentioned about local endeavours. We all need to lean on each other if we’re going to grow.”
