Hanabee’s Business Director and the co-director of RTX Sydney, Cameroon Rooney has recently submitted his resignation from the company.
In a statement on Facebook, Rooney said, “I can’t even begin to think about how to describe what the last 5 years has meant to me.”
“Eric taught me a lot over the years. Eventually his goal became mine. It’s pretty simple. Wouldn’t it be cool to one day sit on the moon, look back at everything you’ve done in your life, on that tiny blue marble and think ‘I did everything I could’, while drinking a beer with some mates.”
“To get anywhere near the moon it turns out you need a lot of people around to support you, help you grow, and most of all believe in you. Family and friends. And an incredibly supportive girlfriend… Everyone at Rooster Teeth, Supanova, and the incredible communities around them. Of course, ALL of the RTX Sydney Guardians over the last three years. This small and constantly surprising industry of game developers, publishers, marketing managers, and directors. As a gross understatement: It’s been dope.”
“I’m not a big fan of the “I’m blessed” perspective, religious connotations aside, because I worked my absolute hardest to make the most of all the opportunities since 2013. Blessed implies too much luck. But then, over the years, I’ve had to pinch myself because of how much fun all these opportunities were. My first week I interviewed Monty and Jordan in front of 500 at ACMI and told Eric immediately afterwards “Can we go bigger?” Years later I would be interviewing Kojima and Joshua Boggs, live streamed to thousands, in front of another 1200 people, at a convention of 15,000 people I helped create.”‘
Cameron is yet to decide on his next move but will continue with Clicky Sticks and as a Producer and Designer in his studio, Chunk Works.
We would like to wish Cameron all the very best of luck.
