The World Wildlife Fund for Nature Australia is combining the internet’s love of cats with Twitch and bringing the “Clash of Cats” charity event to a live stream near you.
The “Clash of Cats” event runs from December 15 – 30 with streamers all over the world rallying on either “Team Tiger” or “Team Snow Leopard”. Teams verse each other in-game and real life to raise the most money to save some of the some of the most endangered big cats on the globe and be crowned ultimate Cat Champions.
The WWF estimate that there are as few as 4,000 snow leopards left in the wild across Asia. The foundation also states that less than 3,900 tigers are left in the wild and two tigers per week are killed for the illegal wildlife trade.
Lucy Chen, Livestream Fundraising Coordinator for WWF-Australia says, “This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for streamers from all around the world to connect with each other for a cause they care about. We’re not just fundraising, but we’re building a community around a passion for wildlife conservation and a future where humans live in harmony with nature.”
