The gaming journalism veteran has been appointed as editor of PC PowerPlay as multiple staff changes are revealed.
Wilks becomes the new editor of PC PowerPlay following the format changes to Hyper and the departure of John Gillooly as he begins a new life in Singapore.
Wilks had been editing Hyper Magazine on and off since 2007 and was previously; Deputy Editor of the title, edited PC GameZone and Tech Editor of PC PowerPlay. Wilks has been working as a games and tech journalist since 1999.
Wilks stated, “PC PowerPlay is the magazine on which I cut my teeth and it’s good to be back on the title. As a passionate PC gamer it feels natural going back to my roots. Hyper has been my baby for a long time, so I’m glad to see the magazine evolving with the times. I’m a passionate lover of print and both magazines, so I’m definitely looking forward to the challenge of making both publications all they can be in the coming years.”
In addition to Wilks’ move, David Hollingworth has been appointed to the newly created role of Digital Editor, Tech and Gaming with PCPowerPlay founding editor Ben Mansill to continue as editor of PC & Tech Authority.
Hollingworth has played a central role in nextmedia’s digital and online activities through 2014, bringing his expertise in online publishing and social media to this expanding and exciting area.
In addition to his role with PC & Tech Authority, Mansill will be responsible for overseeing the print titles within nextmedia’s Tech and Gaming portfolio.
