Digital Sporting Group (DSG) and Central Coast Mariners have announced a grass roots stand alone competition pitting entrants against some of the top players in Australia.
Mariners owner, Mike Charlesworth has been working closely with DSG to build a community to increase the talent pool of esports football players under the Mariners banner, commenting “Last season the E-League was a pivotal success, it engaged millions of spectators across the globe and we need to capitalise on this and see what else we can do.”
Players entering the competition will get the chance to play head to head against some of Australia’s top players, including;
- Matthew Camilleri (Central Coast Mariners/StrawHat_Camels)
- Jamie Doherty (Adelaide United/FUTWIZ),
- David Cook (Perth Glory/HighFly357),
- Marcus Gomes (Melbourne City/SoccerStar00777).
Charlesworth continued, “In partnership with Digital Sports Group, we’re increasing the Australian esports talent pool by producing more competition and attracting more competitors and we’re passionate to lead the way in this space.”
DSG’s Managing Director and Founder, Jon Rowe spoke of the announcement, “The Mariners came to us with a very clear direction to grow their supporter base via the vehicle of esports, We are excited to partner with them to manage the cross over from traditional sports into esports.
