Epic reveals 'MegaGrants', Committing $100,000,000 in project funding

Epic Games has revealed Epic MegaGrants during GDC 2019, committing to $100 million in funding support for game developers, enterprise professionals, media and entertainment creators, students, educators, and tool developers working with Unreal Engine.

MegaGrants seeks to assist in bringing creative, noteworthy, and innovative projects built in and around Unreal Engine to life, with grants ranging from $5,000 to $500,000, covering a variety of endeavours from enterprise, or media and entertainment projects.

Unlike the original Epic Dev Grants program, MegaGrants up’s the ante on funding, leaping from $5m to $100m in funding, while more importantly opening the program to many types of projects, programs, and software tools.

To convey the extent of how far the new funding will reach, see the following quote from the MegaGrant FAQ, “3D digital creation tools and learning materials about UE4 such as books, lesson plans, and videos are examples of eligible projects.”
