From the ashes of EA’s Melbourne Studio (Visceral Games), a new mobile development team known as Playside has arisen.
Kotaku has reported that Gerry Sakkas, game designer at Visceral, opted not to relocate to one of EA’s other studios, but to stay in Australia and set up shop for himself, taking a significant chunk of former-Visceral talent while he did so.
Sakkas, now CEO of Playside, said: “The goal was to create a studio with people who were accustomed to aiming for AAA quality, take that talent, and tailor it to a mobile audience.”
“We are all about making a completely tailored experience for the mobile platform, with the added quality and polish of a console game. Our biggest goals are to create unique and loveable characters and to make a real impact on the mobile games industry.”
The studio will begin production on its first games on 16th January 2012. For the full story, click here.
