This year’s EB EXPO will be held in Sydney, and is expected to take a slightly different tack to last year’s event.
EB Games are expecting over 30’000 attendees this year (up from almost 15’000 at last year’s debut event on the Gold Coast), and are hosting the event from Friday 5th thru Sunday 7th October inclusive.
Last year’s event marked the largest gaming event of any kind in Australia / New Zealand (by a massive margin), and this year it’s set to be more than twice the size. Doubtless the event will attract significant speakers, with last year boasting EA COO Peter Moore and Sony Studios producer for the Playstation Vita John McLaughlin.
This year’s event is set to be hosted at the Sydney Showground in Homebush, where it has already been confirmed that the EB Arena Spectacular (which last year hosted several huge presentations, a pyro display and a motocross demonstration) will return as a key attraction.
Other areas at this year’s event will include a hugely expanded Fanmade section, slated to include local indie developers showing off their games as well as a dedicated e-sports section, A Grand Finale event on the Arena stage which will include an awards show (on which attendees may vote) and a Cosplay competition, plus the as yet detail-free EB Twilight Spectacular to close the show.
