Thirty-two TAFE NSW students from the Meadowbank, Lidcombe, Wollongbar and Port Macquarie campus’ competed against Australian university undergraduate students in the annual Cyber Security Challenge Australia (CySCA) earlier this week.
The 24-hour hacking competition tests competitors on their technical and communication skills based on ‘real life’ scenarios. From the 108 teams that participated nationally, TAFE NSW Meadowbank’s ‘Garbage Memes’ ended up in the Top 60.
TAFE NSW Meadowbank IT and Cyber security Centre Leader, Dr David Halfpenny said, “There is a growing demand for cyber security professionals in this exciting and challenging career. The significance of this competition in education will produce work-ready graduates to increase our cyber security workforce.”
