Established esports presenter and game caster James ‘Devmarta‘ Stewart has joined the Ubisoft Australia team as Esports Specialist.
Offering unique insights, and a deep understanding of Rainbow Six: Siege esports, Stewart will assist Ubisoft in developing key relationships with tournament organisers, casters, players, and community members. Helping Ubisoft to support the growing community that surrounds the esports hit title in ANZ.
“It’s fantastic that we have been able to adopt such a dedicated member of the community to become part of the Ubisoft Australia Rainbow Six Siege ESports team. James (Dev) has such a wealth of knowledge and experience in the competitive gaming space that we can’t wait to utilise this to grow our local scene”, said Matthew Tang, Group Marketing Manager.
Entering the industry in 2016, James’ story is all too familiar in the esports space, where passion creates opportunity. After being instantly ‘hooked’ with Rainbow Six: Siege in 2016, Stewart started helping out the Australian esports organisation Team Obsidium, becoming General Manager of the group, and continuing to support the community by casting events and small community projects for the R6 ANZ Community Discord.
Stewart’s passion did not go unnoticed, come the launch of the Rainbow Six Pro League in Australia (and more recently New Zealand), Stewart was called upon by the ESL Australia team to cast the finals, giving him the industry recognition that he then leveraged to enter the industry in a professional capacity.
“I’m incredibly honoured to be able to contribute to Rainbow Six and esports in my position with Ubisoft and thankful to the team for putting their faith in me and demonstrating a progressive engagement with esports. With every new project, I’m even more excited for the scene and can’t wait to see what Ubisoft can accomplish with Rainbow Six and esports in 2019.”, added Stewart.
Congratulations to James, and the Ubisoft Australia team, we can’t wait to see Siege continue to grow as an esport in 2019.
