Leighton Gray, the co-creator of Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator has been announced as the opening keynote speaker for Game Connect Asia Pacific 2018 (GCAP).
Leighton is a writer, illustrator, metamodernism enthusiast, story consultant, and game developer based out of Los Angeles, California. She was included in the 2017 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Games, and is currently an art director at Fullbright.
Previous keynote speakers have included industry luminaries such as Martin Sahlin, creative director of Coldwood Interactive, co-founder of Media Molecule Siobhan Reddy, and Kate Edwards, the former Executive Director of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA).
Speaking on the announcement, Tony Reed, CEO of the GDAA said, “In our search for GCAP keynote speakers we look for creators that change the way we think about games, people that push the boundaries that little bit further. Leighton fits this core philosophy perfectly and we are incredibly excited to hear her story.”
GCAP Event Coordinator, Isabelle Pattison added, “In the spirit of this year’s theme ‘the walls we’ve built ourselves’, Leighton’s work takes a running jump, with a sledgehammer, at the core supports of those walls.”
GCAP, in its 13th year, is Australia’s premier game development conference. Hosted by the Game Developers’ Association of Australia (GDAA), the event attracted over 1,000 attendees last year. GCAP strives to provide thought provoking, creative, and innovative sessions from leaders in the local and international game development industries.
Tickets for the event will go on sale next month.
