Codemasters certainly turned heads and set bars when it came to Racedriver: Grid, so there was a lot of pressure on Grid 2 to deliver.
It looks like while the title isn’t Codemasters’ best racer to date, it’s certainly reached those high expectations.
“In almost every way imaginable, GRID 2 is exactly what I wanted, and what I expected,” says Alex Walker at Games.on.net. “You could draw comparisons with Call of Duty; the cars, the tracks, that sense of speed is all here almost five years to the day GRID was released.”
“The wait has been worth it,” adds DigitalSpy. “[It’s] another excellent example of a studio that’s really hit its stride in the racing genre.”
Andrew Day for Capsule Computers, however, gave the game 7.5/10, saying there was “nothing there for people who aren’t fans of the genre.”
“I was initially on the fence – but damn it if I didn’t have a blast,” says Joel Lauterbach for NZ Gamer, who gave the game an 8.5/10. “While a part of me wishes GRID 2 had gone the simulation path, it really seems to deliver in depth of content, driving model, and particularly some spectacular and thrilling environments.”
