Daniel returns to our list for a second straight year, continuing to go from strength-to-strength with Blizzard ANZ.
Smith boasts over ten year’s in the local industry, getting his start at store level with EB Games in 2008. In 2013 he would move to head office as a part of the Community team, rising from Associate to Coordinator over the next four years. Prior to his departure from the retailer, Daniel grew EB’s social channels to over 400,000 followers and launched the Zing! social media channels.
Additionally, Daniel worked across the EB Expo portfolio in his four years at head office, which included the creation and development of the “Just ‘Cos” cosplay competition, and Cosplay Showcase and worked with the Starlight Children’s Foundation on Corporate Fundraising efforts including the hugely successful Starlight Children’s Week.
In October 2017, just prior to the publishing our 2017 30 Under Thirty, Daniel made the move to Sydney, joining Blizzard ANZ as a Community Manager, working across Hearthstone, StarCraft and Heroes of the Storm.
In his time with the publisher, Smith as expanded the content range of their channels, including the production of local esports events including the Wow Arena APAC Championships, Hearthstone HCT Sydney Stop and StarCraft WCS Qualifier at IEM Sydney 2018. He has organised a number of Blizzard community events including the Hearthstone Inn-vitational and Fireside Gathering Pre-releases.
Daniel is also an active member of the Australian Trading Card Game community and adjudicates on 1000+ Player tournaments annually.
Speaking to MCV Pacific on his inclusion in this year’s list, Smith said, “I am thrilled to be included in the 30 Under 30 this year.
