The 24 year old has always had his eyes set on games and tech journalism, beginning his career way back in 2011, freelancing for several US-based gaming sites.
In the year’s that followed Halliday would go on to freelance for a number of outlets, including; Press Start Australia, Screen Rant, Progress Bar AU and We Got This Covered. In early 2016, Fergus was appointed as the Film & TV Editor for The Iris (now the AU Review). Almost two year’s later he would move to 4Square Media as a full time journalist, shorlty after becoming the Editor of PC World Australia and GoodGearGuide, the position he currently holds.
Outside of his work in publishing, Fergus has moderated and appeared on a number of panels at PAX Australia 2018, has been included as a tech expert on Weekend Sunrise, and has featured on a number of local podcasts, including; The Wrap, Vertical Hold & The Scrapyard.
Speaking to MCV Pacific, Halliday said, “There are so many people in the Australian technology and games media space who put in the hard work and so few avenues and opportunities for that work to be recognised, so it means a lot to be included in this year’s MCV Pacific 30 Under 30. I’m really proud of what I’ve done so far as the editor of PC World Australia and GoodGearGuide. We’ve grown our traffic, covered global tradeshows like CES and Computex, appeared on panels at PAX Australia 2018 and published some solid review and feature articles across both the gaming and tech verticals. We’ve also had the opportunity to work with incredibly talented individuals like Seamus Mullins and Jessica Zammit. I’m delighted to see both featured in this year’s Develop 30 Under 30. Again – there really aren’t enough avenues for recognition in this industry, so a shoutout to everyone who puts in the hours and effort anyway. I believe in you. You got this.”
