Joshua Brundell got his first taste of the Interactive Entertainment industry with JB Hifi in New Zealand.
Joshua served as Media Advisor for Games with the retailer whilst completing a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration, triple majoring in Marketing, e-Commerce and Information Systems at Victoria University of Wellington.
After 12-months with JB, Brundell would relocate to Sydney, spending time at Fujistu and MAUS Business Systems.
In June 2016, Brundell would bring his life long passion for games to SIE Australia, joining the team as a Product Manager, the position he still holds today.
Through his love of videogames and in-depth knowledge of the category, Joshua is a great ambassador for the PlayStation brand and has developed himself in to a valuable product champion. Within his role, Brundell is responsible for the end to end marketing campaigns of a range of software properties which, most notably, include the Gran Turismo Brand with the most recent title, Gran Turismo Sport, released to acclaim in 2017.
He has also overlooked the launch of PlayStation 4 exclusive, God of War – a personal career highlight for Josh, who collaboratively developed a campaign whose strength was recognised by Santa Monica Studios, who took time out of their schedule to visit the AU region to support the launch of SIE’s highest rated title in PlayStation 4 history.
Aside from software product marketing, Josh is also responsible for the on-going management and success of the PlayStation VR brand and associated games and experiences, something he has been involved with since launch. A recently highlight in for this was the launch of the ‘The PS VR show’, hosted by NichBoy, which made its debut in December last year.
Brundell’s passion for Brand advocacy has also seen him assume the unofficial role as ‘the local face of PlayStation’ with SIEAU’s key retail partners. This entails the management and presentation of PlayStations upcoming range of products at vendor shows which a view to engage and excite store ambassadors about the PlayStation brand.
Speaking to MCV Pacific, Joshua said, “I still need to pinch myself some mornings when I come into work. Growing up I always fantasised about working in the video game industry, from as far back as when I was 5 years old in front of the TV playing Crash Bandicoot, I always told my family that one day I want to do this for a living. Fast forward 20 years and I’m surrounded by some of the very same people who worked on the games I grew up on. I’m very grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been given in my career to get me to this point, and I’m delighted to be included on the MCV 30 Under Thirty for 2018.”
