Like many others to feature in our 30 Under Thirty, Lachlan got his start with EB Games – joining at store level in 2013.
Just one year later, Tabulo moved to Head Office, taking on the role of Digital Content Designer before becoming a Brand & Engagement Assistant in 2015. In the latter, Lachlan planned, managed and executed midnight launch activations for AAA releases like Fallout 4 and Call of Duty: Black Ops III and a national scavenger hunt for Mad Max.
Another claim to fame during the period, Lachlan could be heard in all of EB’s stores across as the ‘the voice-over guy’ for instore VO advertisements.
In 2016, Tabulo would be promoted again to Marketing Supervisor. He would continue developing and executing national monthly marketing campaigns, including all of those for EB Expo 2017. In 2016, Lachlan was rewarded for his hard work, receiving the ‘Gold Excellence Award’, as voted by senior members at EB for consistently going above and beyond the expectations of his role.
Last year, Lachlan was promoted to National Loyalty Manager, acting as the marketing manager for EB World; leading a team of graphic designers and data analysts to co-ordinate large scale email campaigns. Perhaps his greatest achievement in the role was the creation of the ‘Buck Royale’ campaign, creating an engaging content piece across EB Games’ in-store, social, web and email marketing channels.
In September last year, Lachlan parted EB Games, making the move to Melbourne, joining Nintendo ANZ as as Marketing Specialist. In the role he has spearheaded the marketing for the likes of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Dark Souls: Remastered on Switch.
The move was a natural fit for Tabulo, a life long fan of the platform holder. Whilst in University in Brisbane way back in 2010, Lachlan created and ran what would become Brisbane’s Largest Pokémon tournament group for three years. The unofficial group boasted 400 active members at its peak (currently inactive). He organised not-for-profit online tournaments with over 100 participants and regular physical tournaments with up to 50 participants.
Speaking to MCV Pacific, Tabulo said, “It’s incredible to be featured in this list, especially alongside the awesome talent we have in our industry. I’m lucky to have had some great mentors throughout my career – so a massive shout-out goes to them for believing in me – I wouldn’t be on this list without their guidance and support.”
