A debutante in our 30 Under Thirty list, over the past three and a half years, Shane Bailey has firmly positioned himself as a fast rising star of the ANZ Games Industry
Bailey joined Ubisoft ANZ in September 2015 as a Sales & Marketing Assistant. Over the next 18-months he would cut his teeth leading video game classification, assisting sales and marketing teams with digital asset creation and lead event logistics at the JB Hi-Fi Games Conference, EB Expo and PAX Australia.
In April 2017 Shane was appointed as Trade Marketing Executive, leading in-store campaigns with sales, marketing and operations teams, co-ordinating store merchandising teams and now, managing event strategy for the above mentioned events. During his time in the role he would earn the praise of these events, with Ubisoft scoring Stack Booth of The Show at the 2017 JB Hifi Games Conference and Best Exhibition Booth at EB Expo 2017.
Just seven months later, Bailey would again be promoted, this time to PR, Esports & Social Media Executive. He would thrive alongside the monumental growth of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege. His work was rewarded at our inaugural Esports Pro Oceania Awards, taking home Esports Campaign of The Year for the title.
In October last year, Shane would again receive a bump, becoming PR, Esports & Social Media Manager at Ubisoft. He has lead the communication strategy and campaigns for a number of the publisher’s titles, including: Rainbow Six: Siege, Just Dance 2019, Ghost Recon: Wildlands Year 2, Trials Rising and a number of VR titles. The year was capped off with Rainbow Six: Siege being voted as Esports Title of The Year by the games community at the 2018 Australian Games Awards.
Outside of his day-to-day with Ubisoft Shane volunteers for Australian non-for-profit Feel The Magic. The charity aims to create a world where children who are experiencing grief are supported to reach their full potential. He has worked with Feel The Magic for over three years, assisting at ten Camp Magic programs, seven times as a camp mentor and three as a Talk Time Support member. Shane’s has since connected the charity with Ubisoft, with the publisher working with Feel The Magic on a number of activations, notably raising money for them on their booths at PAX Australia in 2017 and 2018.
Speaking to MCV Pacific, Shane said, “I’m incredibly humbled to be included in 2018’s 30 Under Thirty list, among such extraordinary peers. I’ve done my best in my short time at Ubisoft Australia to bring a bit more positivity to the Australian video game industry, whether that be through exhibition booths designed with gamers in mind, esports events influenced by the wants and needs of all corners of the community or charity initiatives that can help fellow Australians in need. Thank you to MCV Pacific for recognising mine and others’ efforts and thanks to my team at Ubisoft for putting so much faith in me to execute these things I’m so passionate about.”
