Trade Media is pleased to announce it will now report weekly on Digital Games Sales from Australia and New Zealand.
Moving full steam ahead into 2019, the new Digital Games Charts will sit alongside the existing Retail Game Charts, published weekly on MCV Pacific.
Helping to create a more informed, accurate picture of Australian & New Zealand consumer habits, the first of the new charts will release later today.
Both Digital and Retail charts are provided by the Independent Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA) under a licensing agreement with NPD Group, and GSD.
Retail Chart data is collected and distributed by NPD Group, covering all products sold at Australian & New Zealand traditional retail outlets, as well as local online stores.
Where Digital Chart data covers the sales of full game downloads through the Australian & New Zealand PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and Steam stores, and are provided to GSD from a panel which includes:
- Activision Blizzard
- Bandai Namco Games
- Electronic Arts
- Focus Home Interactive
- Koch Media
- Paradox Interactive
- Square Enix
- Take 2 Interactive
- Warner Bros Interactive
The digital charts are not intended to cover the total market or consumer spending on full game downloads, as due to the nature of full game downloads, it is up to individual companies to provide data to 3rd party aggregators. IGEA is in continual discussions with all major parties in regards to the Digital Charts.
Any changes or updates concerning the list of companies providing data will be made apparent in future chart releases.
Like the existing Top Ten Charts, the new Digital Charts will go live on MCV Pacific towards the end of each week, reporting on the week prior.
