Minister of Broadcasting, Communications and Digital Media Clare Curran has announced a study alongside the NZGDA into New Zealand’s game development and interactive media sector.
The NZGDA has been pushing for the inquiry for several years. The all-encompassing study will cover game development, exports, pathways from indies to studios, skills, games as culture, consumer AR/VR, serious games, eSports, games for education, screen industry collaboration and more.
The NZGDA will be working throughout 2018 to boost NZ games developers and their contributions to New Zealand, a starting point for discussion between government and industry about what can be done together.
the New Zealand Technology Industry Association (NZTech) and the NZ Game Developers Association (NZGDA) will lead the study, assisted by the involvement of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment and the Ministry of Culture and Heritage.
More information will be made available during NZGDC, but for those who would like to get involved, and further information, send an email to email@example.com.
