Selling through over 5.6 million units’ globally over the 2018 holiday period (Nov 19 – Dec 31), Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced total unit sales of the PlayStation 4 have exceeded 91.6 million globally.
“Thanks to the continued support from our fans during the holiday season, we are pleased to announce that PS4 has reached 91.6 million units globally.
We are also happy to announce that the monthly active users of PlayStation Network continues to show strong growth, and has surpassed 90 million as of end of November 2018,” said John Kodera, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Moreover, the consoles staggering sales figures are yet more impressive when considering the effect on global game sales of this huge install base, with 50.7 million PlayStation 4 games sold globally during the same 2018 holiday period.
Making up almost 18% of those game sales is Sony first-party title, Spider-Man, which sold over 9 million as of November 25, 2018, having only launched in September of 2018.
