EA and Firemonkeys have just finished hosting a large media event to celebrate the Australian-ness of Real Racing 3.
Hosted atop Collins Place in central Melbourne, the event was opened by a proud Minister Louise Asher who revelled in being able to announce the game’s launch in Victoria.
“Electronic Arts has been quick on the uptake and invested in local Australian talent so that innovative games made in Australia secure the recognition they deserve on a global stage,” said Asher. “We’re proud to be supporting the Real Racing franchise and Firemonkeys as they revolutionise mobile gaming.”
The venue for the launch event overlooked Flinders St Station in Melbourne, so media and members of government were able to play the game’s new Melbourne real-world track while seeing the real life counterpart right behind the screen.
It was a classy and surreal experience to say the least, and the game itself is looking every bit as good as previous entries in the award winning series.
The game was first showcased in California when Apple launched the iPhone 5, it being the premiere way to show off what the new device could do.
Now, it’s hitting at midnight in Australia and New Zealand, with the rest of the world having to wait for this groundbreaking Australian creation until 28th February.
The new entry in the series features other real world tracks like Laguna Seca, Spa, Indiannapolis and more, as well as 46 real-world cars with 22 per race and asymettrical multiplayer so you can race friends while they’re offline.
Additionally, this time the game is going free-to-play, and is easily the best way to check out what an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch can really do.
