Established gaming journalist and technology sector expert Seamus Byrne has re-launched Byteside, a new podcast network and news site, covering games, tech, and the geekier side of pop culture.
Byteside is already the home of two podcasts, Blizzard Entertainment focused ‘The Scrapyard’, and the most sensible tech show known as ‘Jetpacks Are Overrated’. Both kicked off during 2018 and will continue under the Byteside banner into 2019.
Originally launching in 2009, Byteside started life as a hybrid live-event and online video show about tech, games and all things geek. The show ran for an initial two seasons before it, as Seamus describes “wandered off into the wilderness”. Despite the concept at the time being innovative and fun, it was too far ahead of the curve as most platforms hadn’t yet begun supporting long-form content.
An award-winning gaming and technology journalist himself, Seamus has big plans to take his experience and insight surrounding esports to create a new interview show that will fly under the Byteside banner.
And alongside all the existing podcasts, and upcoming show’s and discussions, Seamus is working to build Byteside into a platform that can support a range of contributors and various industry members voices, “open to hearing from writers and voices who are keen to hear more about that as the plans come together.”
Aiming to utilise the opportunity Byteside affords to share “great writing from all outlets”, as well as inviting guests from other outlets onto the shows to create a unique mix of commentary and industry relevant discussion.
