According to a report by Chedder, Snap Inc. owners of the popular multimedia messaging app, Snapchat, will announce details surrounding a planned ‘gaming initiative’ at their first-ever summit for content and developer partners in Los Angeles on April 4.
Last year Snap invested in Australian development studio Pretty Great, the creators behind mobile games “Fruit Ninja” and “Jetpack Joyride.”. Acquiring the studio for $500,000, according to ASIC, all but confirming suspicions raised by an article published by The Information in June of last year.
Snapchat is on track to become a member of a select list of profitable digital platforms, this can be seen through its record sales performance despite showing no growth in user base since the same time last year, according to recode.
Chedder further reported seeing an invitation to the event which included the tagline, “Less talk. More play.” indicating the platforms move away from ‘conversation’ as its primary function.
