As announced yesterday, EA Access is an Xbox One exclusive subscription service, but it would seem it wasn’t always going to be just that.
In an article by Mike Futter on Game Informer’s website a Sony North America spokesperson highlighted that Sony doesn’t believe it offers good value to consumers saying, “We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect”.
“PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200 per cent since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price.
“We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”
Locally EA Access will cost AUD $6.99 per month, with an annual membership available for AUD $39.99. For that users get unlimited access to a select number of titles and discounts on all digital purchases and new EA releases.
