Nintendo’s latest brawler is smashing records with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate becoming the fastest selling Nintendo home console game of all time in ANZ.

Since launching on December 7, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold were almost 80% higher than Super Mario Odyssey, which has shipped more than 12 million copies, in its first three days of release. Alongside a strong retail showing, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is also the fastest-selling game in the Nintendo eShop.

Managing Director of Nintendo Australia, Kamon Yoshimura says, “We are thrilled that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now both the fastest-selling game in the series and our fastest-selling home console game in Australia and New Zealand.”

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, and features alongside other recent releases like Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! and Blizzard’s dungeon crawler Diablo III.
