A part of New Zealand’s Techweek 2019, Attack on Geek is running a new event aimed to inspire girls to feel confident and comfortable playing games.
Through collaborative gaming, girls will learn the skills necessary to work together to solve problems, feel confident and comfortable playing games, be welcomed into a space that is traditionally male dominant and empowered to pursue careers in gaming and technology.
Kicking off with a short introduction to the Gaming for Everyone initiate, moving onto activities, discussion, and gaming throughout the day, attendees can jump into multiplayer games like Minecraft, Fortnite, and Realm Royale. Giving attendees the chance to grow, learn, ask questions, or even begin their journey into the gaming world, content creation, or games development.
The overall idea is to allow young Kiwi girls to attend a girls only session that we hope will help them have some fun and feel comfortable gaming, inspiring them to pursue a career in gaming.
The takes place Saturday, May 25th, between 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Tenforward Technology Lounge in Auckland, more information can be found on the TechWeek 2019 website.
