Throwdown Esports has announced their partnership with PUBG Corporation (PUBG Corp.), to host a new esports tournament – The Throwdown PUBG OCE Open Series, a five-week tournament that will run from August 2nd to September 2nd.

The Series is the first PUBG league offering this format for the Oceanic region, providing brands with unique sponsorship opportunities to make deep connections with the passionate gaming community.

Throwdown expects to see over 2000 players register to compete in the competition, and expects a further 400,000+ passionate fans to tune into the two days of competition play each week. Twenty total teams that qualify for the four rounds of finals will fight over a$15k prize pool, the biggest for a grassroots competition in the Oceanic region.

“PUBG is massively popular being played by over 227 million gamers each month, so it’s fantastic for Throwdown to be hosting the first official PUBG competition for the Oceanic region,” said George Cordalis, Throwdown Esports Manager.

Throwdown Esports’ recent success with it’s returning Rocket League OCE Championship (RLOC), saw an impressive 66% increase in viewership on last years event, reaching 2.1 million views, and notching up over 27,280,629 minutes of watch time,

Throwdown is searching for its next big partner for the upcoming league, as the main sponsorship for the event is still available. Banner brands MacDonald’s and OMEN by HP have sponsored the most recent Throwdown competitions, and received great engagement and ROI for there involvement.
