Modern Warfare 3 wins out in New Zealand as well, but the back half of the 2011 top ten is mixed up a bit.
No Nintendo products featured at all in 2011, and a few more casual games take the list. Meanwhile, FIFA 12 scores nowhere near as big, being ousted instead by Sidhe’s All Blacks Rugby Challenge (aka Wallabies Rugby Challenge or Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge).
The data comes to MCV Pacific courtesy of NPD Group.
The top ten selling retail games in New Zealand across all platforms in 2011 are:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Activision Blizzard
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Bethesda
- Battlefield 3 EA
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Activision Blizzard
- All Blacks Rugby Challenge Tru Blu
- Lego Batman Warner Bros
- FIFA 12 EA
- Gran Turismo 5 Sony
- Kinect Sports Microsoft
- Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Ubisoft
Interestingly, Assassin’s Creed Revelations very nearly made the list, coming in at #11, immediately behind its predecessor. The more price-conscious New Zealand market is likely to have been a key factor in Brotherhood remaining on the list.
