Twitch has announced changes to their Twitch Prime service, starting September 14.
On their blog dated August 20, Twitch announce that users subscribed to Twitch Prime will now lose access to ad-free viewing on October 15, however other benefits for Twitch Prime users will remain unchanged. Twitch says that the change to Prime will “strengthen and expand that advertising opportunity for creators so they can get more support from their viewers for doing what they love.” Twitch Prime is also coupled with Amazon Prime, which has reportedly changed their discount of 20% on newly released physical games to a discount of 10% on preorders of physical games only.
Twitch say that it’s still possible for users to enjoy ad-free viewing using their Twitch Turbo, and also say “Twitch Prime subscribers can still get channel-specific ad-free viewing as part of Prime by using your monthly subscription token on a channel that has ad-free viewing for subscribers turned on.”
