The program is designed to help streamers reach a large audience with the assistance of Twitch.
The grass roots program for Australia and New Zealand is an initiative started by Twitch to help local streamers reach a wider audience with the ultimate goal of the selected streamers being able to become Twitch partners.
Streamers who are selected for the program will receive a number of benefits to help them boost their exposure, including 2 weeks as the Twitch ANZ grass roots broadcaster, which gains them a slot on the front page of Twitch for anyone watching from Australia or New Zealand. They will also receive a minimum of 4 social posts from the @Twitch_ANZ Twitter account, as well as video quality options, a feature that is ordinarily only given to Twitch partners.
MCV Pacific spoke with Lewis Mitchell, the Partnership Associate for Twitch in Australia and New Zealand, who had the following to say about the grass roots program.
“At Twitch we want to see everyone reach their full potential, but we know it can be hard to break out. With the grass roots program, we feel this will give talented streamers the boost they need.”
Applications are open until the 31st of December and the program will commence on Monday, the 16th of January 2017. For anyone wishing to apply for the program, you can do so here.
