Ubisoft announces VR multiplayer game, Space Junkies, launching February 20

Ubisoft’s foray into virtual reality comes in the form of ‘Space Junkie’, a jetpack-fueled arcade shooter and VR exclusive launching March 26th

The new game will launch on PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and the Oculus Store, with full support for PlayStation VR, Windows Mixed Reality headsets, Oculus Rift + Touch, and HTC Vive.

Space Junkies is available on Steam, and the Oculus store from today for pre-order, landing on all platforms, February 20th.

“We are beyond excited for the launch of Space Junkies and can’t wait for players to jump into this rocket-injected, gun-slinging laser bonanza in outer space!” said Adrian Lacey, producer at Ubisoft Montpellier. “Being able to launch on PlayStation VR is great news for our players and we are looking into supporting additional headsets to bring the Space Junkies experience to more people in the future.”

You can play the game before its retail release through Space Junkies Arcade, a dedicated version of the game available in more than a hundred of VR arcades worldwide, including VR Corner in Sydney, and VR Club in Auckland.

“A Virtual Athletics League will also be kicking off an international tournament in partnership with Ubisoft, Springboard VR, and HP on February 19. The competition will pit the best teams from participating arcades against one another for $4,500 USD in gear and prizes.
