Industry advocate, founder of Stirfire Studios, and two time Women in Games List member Vee Pendergast has announced she will be joining Screenwest funding and development agency to assist with the design of the new games funding and industry support program in Western Australia.
Joining for an initial six-week consultant contract, Vee hopes to grow the new funding initiative into a much larger program as it develops. The end goal being the creation of a funding package for game developers in WA, similar to Film Vic or Screen Queensland’s existing solutions.
With the goal in sight, the group will move towards creating a pilot program to serve as a base for future growth.
Vee spoke of the opportunity, saying; “I am excited to take on this role with Screenwest, as although the initial scope is to establish the structure, the intention is to implement and grow the package. WA has a small developer community that has always punched well above its weight.
It would be great for Screenwest, the broader community and WA’s cultural landscape to see that grow and flourish.”
We wish Vee the best of luck in this new endeavour and thank her for working to create more opportunities for Australian games developers.
