Whilst completing her Bachelor of Design and Visual Communication at Malmö University, Anna freelanced as a graphic designer. In 2011 she joined Swedish toy and board game giant, Wonderful Times Toys & Games as Art Director, spending just over two and a half year’s with the company.
In 2014 Anna relocated to Melbourne, joining Firemonkeys as an Associate UI Designer on The Sims FreePlay. Anna reflected on her time with the title, saying, ““I learnt so much during my time on The Sims Freeplay, which was where I really found my feet as a game developer. My years on that team culminated with getting to lead the prototyping and UI development of the Pregnancy update, which was a significant one because it was the Number 1 most requested feature ever by our player-base. It was met with wild excitement as it wasn’t expected to ever be added to the game.”
Anna represented EA Firemonkeys as a speaker at Gnomon’s 2018 event ‘CG Futures and has spoken at a range of institutions and events, ranging from primary schools and universities, all the way to bigger events like Get Into Games 2018, with a particular focus on two topics: increasing awareness about the importance of UI and UX within game development, as well as encouraging diversity and inclusivity within the games development sector and encouraging more girls and women to pursue a career in games.
Additionally, Anna has hosted a few online classes about what it’s like to work as a UI/UX Designer at a AAA studio (for Business in Games, the IGDA Students SIG, etc.) and mentored at a number of events, from various Girl Geek Academy events to the Global Game Jam 2018.
In February, Anna was selected as a Next Gen Leader 2018 by the IGDA – one of ten people selected from around the world.
She also helped create ‘GeekSkate’, a skateboarding group meant to foster a social support network for women and non-binary game developers.
Her success in and out of the business was rewarded when in June this year, Anna was promoted to UI Designer, joining the team on Need For Speed: No Limits at around the same time.
If all of this wasn’t enough, Anna has recently been made a Twitch Affiliate, streaming League of Legends on her channel, The Hangry Games.
Speaking to Develop Pacific on her inclusion in this year’s list, Anna said, “First and foremost, I’m incredibly honoured and blown away to be included among such talented company! I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has inspired, motivated, criticised, and pushed me to grow this past year, which has been full of significant milestones for me. And lastly, we are all so fortunate to be surrounded by so many more amazing women than the 50 that made it on to this list, who have helped shape and pave the way for the rest of us – and others that I look forward to seeing on the list in years to come!”
