Cassandra’s journey into game dev started in 2016, when she began studying an Advanced Diploma, Professional Game Development (Game Design and Production) at AIE.
During her studies, Cassandra worked as part of Opaque Media Group’s ground crew, assisting with demonstrations of Earthlight at various events around Melbourne, whilst completing some QA work for them as part of her studies.
2016 also saw Cassandra join the admin team for the Women & Non-Binary Studying Games Facebook Group, a role she continues with today.
In May of last year, Cassandra was hired by Weta Workshop, relocating to New Zealand. She would become the Studio Coordinator at the studio that would later be Weta Gameshop.
After ten months with the company, Cassandra was promoted to Assistant Producer, all whilst completing her AIE course -graduating in March this year.
Additionally, Cassandra lent her services to Play by Play 2018, sitting on the committee as the volunteer coordinator.
Speaking to Develop Pacific on her inclusion in the 2018 Women In Games List, Cassandra said, “I’m so incredibly excited and honoured to be on the list for the first time.”
“There are so many amazing women in the games industry both on and off the list, and I feel so privileged to be able to work among them every day. I’m really only at the start of my career, and it’s so comforting to know that there’s such a lovely and generous community supporting me on my journey.”
