Whilst completing a double degree Bachelor of Arts (Games and Interactivity) and Bachelor of Science (Computer Science/Software Engineering), Darcy held an undergraduate Application Software Engineer position at ANCA, manufacturing company that designs and builds CNC machines. After completing a year long full time student placement position as a part of her course, she continued casually with the firm whilst finishing off her degrees.
In November 2016, Darcy joined Samurai Punk as a Programmer. Since joining the studio, Darcy has released her first commercial title, The American Dream VR, working on it full time for about three months from August to October last year. The majority of her time with the studio has been working on the announced Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown – a PSVR title made by Tin Man Games in collaboration with Samurai Punk. In June this year, Darcy was promoted to Lead Programmer.
Outside of her work with Samurai Punk Darcy has mentored at Girl Geek Academy’s first all-women game jam and has spoken at Ballarat Get into Games.
Speaking to Develop Pacific about her inclusion in this year’s Women In Games List, Darcy said, “Making games was my dream job when I was a kid, so to be doing it now and to be included in this list of inspiring women who are doing amazing things in this industry is incredible.”
As a part of the next generation of Australian developers, its obvious to all involved that Darcy has a bright, bright future ahead of her.
