With Paul Callaghan having stepped down after this year’s Freeplay festival, the hunt has been on for a new Festival Director.
Callaghan’s replacement comes in the form of two people: Co-Directors Katie Williams and Harry Lee.
Both familiar faces at Freeplay, Williams is a game journalist, writer and critic, while Lee is an independent developer who has received many accolades for his works.
Hugh Davies, Chair of Freeplay, said: “Both Katie and Harry have demonstrated passion and commitment to not only their their own craft but also the wider artistic and creative game development community in Australia and beyond so having them join us is an ideal outcome for Freeplay.”
“We have two exciting new leaders to take the festival into the future and we’re pleased to also retain the organisational knowledge of Paul Callaghan, Freeplay’s previous director, who has become a member of the board.”
